Committee on Programs Mission Statement (11/20/2008)
Purpose:
The Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiology (MSA) through its
Program Committee seeks to:

To enhance patient care through the provision of up-to-date
and evidence based information.

To provide educational opportunities of continuing education
in the field of anesthesiology and related subjects that will
contribute to quality care

To support professional development that will result in improved
patient care
Content
Areas:
The MSA Program Committee will develop program in areas related
to the practice of Anesthesiology, including but not limited
to perioperative care, critical care medicine, pain medicine,
practice and risk management, leadership and administration
and other topics related to the practice of our specialty. The
topics will be selected from the needs delineated in the priority
list developed by the CME Committee. This list of priorities
will be developed from our survey (s), suggestions from attendees
to programs and major changes in the practice of the specialty
of anesthesiology.
Target Audience:
Learning activities will be directed to MSA members, anesthesia
care providers, perioperative nurses, and other healthcare providers
whose activities are related to the field of anesthesiology,
in order to enhance their ability to provide safer patient care
and service the public and the profession.
Types of activities and service provided
These goals will be accomplished by meetings and conferences
where physicians and other healthcare providers learn, discuss,
and share information about professional practice issues, specific
educational needs, and current modalities related to safe and
effective patient care.
Additionally, the MSA Committee on Programs may produce enduring
materials and electronic media to be distributed to its target
audience.
Expected Results:
The MSA Programs Committee activities will enhance knowledge,
competence and performance of member of the anesthesia care
team, perioperative nurses, and other healthcare providers whose
activities are related to the field of anesthesiology. The impact
of the MSA sponsored educational activities will be evaluated
utilizing assessment tools such as evaluation summaries, informal
feedback and the survey results.
