(The MSA Program Committee is accredited by the Massachusetts Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians)

Purpose:
The mission of MSA Program Committee is:
1. To engage in and conduct programs of continuing education in the field of anesthesiology and related subjects
2. To communicate the results of research in anesthesiology and related subjects to the membership
3. To encourage and contribute to the maintenance of a high level of proficiency in the practice of anesthesiology and related medical sciences.

Content Areas and General Types of Activities:
This is accomplished through meetings and conferences where physicians and other healthcare providers learn, discuss, and share information about professional practice issues, specific educational needs, and current modalities related to safe and effective patient care.
Additionally, the MSA Program Committee may produce enduring materials to be distributed to its target audience.

Target Audience:
Programs are designed to emphasize topics of interest to anesthesia care providers, perioperative nurses, and other healthcare providers whose activities are related to the field of anesthesiology, in order to enhance their ability to provide service for patients, the public, and the profession.

Expected Results:
Programs are preferentially designed to emphasize topics of interest to anesthesia care providers in order to enhance their ability to provide service for patients, the public, and the profession. This provides for the continuous improvement of healthcare for our community. (revised August 2004)
